My First Book of Plants
Passion Project is a core component of the Foundation Program (FP) of UWC Changshu China, which aims to cultivate students to conduct in-depth research on areas of interest and turn them into practical projects in order to enhance the ability to put knowledge into practice. In this issue, Betty Lu, a FP student, shared her Passion Project. Betty spent a year exploring and studying the plant species on campus and compiled an ebook of plants introducing more than 30 species of plants with beautiful illustrations.

Recently, UWC Changshu China received the outcome of the NEASC-CIE accreditation visit which took place last October. New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) Commission on International Education (CIE) has awarded UWC Changshu China Accreditation.

“Building Bridges” | One World Concert 2021
April 17th, 2021 marked the annual One World Concert in UWC Changshu China, an event that has, for many years, been the highlight across multiple UWC campuses. The theme of this year’s concert was “Building Bridges”, a theme that reflects on how these hard times of being apart has shown us the need to build even more and stronger bridges. With so many members of our community still not with us, One World Concert became an opportunity for us to support and listen to each other, either physically or virtually, and celebrate music, poetry, dance, but mostly, our differences and connections.

Hackability Launched at UWC Changshu China
Hackability, which started in Turin, Italy in 2015, aims at using technology to help people with disabilities and/or special needs. In the past few years, Hackability’s activities have been extended from Italy to other European countries such as France, and recently to China. In 2019, the event was successfully held at New York University Shanghai. This year, with the support and help from Changshu Disabled People Federation and UWC Changshu China, a 4-session hackability has been launched at the Yushan Academy Centre for Design and Innovation of UWC Changshu China.

Leaders of China Centers of Top US Universities Visiting UWC
On November 14, 2020, leaders of China centers of Harvard, Yale, Stanford, University of Chicago and Cornell, visited UWC Changshu China. They held a panel discussion to share their views and outlook in the field of higher education with students and teachers of UWC and CWA.
