Issue date:2020-01-09On Feb. 23rd, 2019, all DP1 and FP students joined a field trip to three different places in Changshu to explore Chinese Culture. Some visited Xinfu Temple, a well known traditional Buddhist temple, enjoyed local food and learned how to make traditional incense bag. Some went to a memorial hall named Tieqintongjian Library, (Iron, Lyre, Copper, Sword Library) with over 200 years of history which was a place where the owner, Mr. Qu’s family, kept and protected a large collection of books for generations even during turbulent periods. Students learned to sing a traditional folk song. Another group went to visit a local village and learned the history of the 1960s when students from the cities went to work with farmers in the village. Native Chinese students performed a short part of a famous Chinese novel “Lotus Town” by Gu Hua, based on the history of that particular period.
