Ciara Johnson
As an educator since 2002, she brings her experience from the USA, Turkey, Vietnam, and Saudi Arabia to the UWC in China.
Ciara was previously Girls' Secondary Principal and Interim Director at International Programs School, Saudi Arabia, where she developed academics, student life, and staff, led a successful MSA reaccreditation in 2018-19 as Steering Committee Chair, and facilitated the school's move to a new campus facility in fall of 2019.
Ciara has launched and supervised IB Diploma Programs in Saudi, Turkish, and Vietnamese schools, guiding initial student cohorts through program completion and ensuring achievement of rigorous graduation requirements. She served as IBDP Coordinator from 2018-2019 at International Programs School. She is an IB examiner and has taught English Literature, English Language and Literature, and ToK.
Ciara holds her undergraduate degree in Secondary Education: English from Eastern Washington University, USA. She completed her Master of Science in Education: Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment from Walden University, USA, and a Master of Arts in Education: International Education Administration from Endicott College, USA. She has served Endicott College as a GOLD Alumni Council Member from 2017-2021, supporting the college's international education programs, recruiting, and alumni outreach.
Ciara previously worked as a professional ski instructor (PSIA-AASI) from 2005-2009 and was recognized as the Rookie Instructor of the Year for the 2005-06 season at Ski Bowl, Mount Hood.
