On Nov. 7th, the award ceremony of “The 17th Awarding Program for Future Scientists” was held in Peking University, Beijing, China. Jichen Zhang, our DP1 student, received the First-Prize with his research project on astrophysics.

Jichen Zhang won the First-Prize of “The 17th Awarding Program for Future Scientists”
Mr. Wang Yi, Vice Chairman of the Board of UWC Changshu China, who graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in Physics and Astrophysics congratulated Jichen on winning the award and said he was greatly impressed by the depth and preciseness of Jichen’s research project on astrophysics. He also commented that for a high school student, this was a remarkable achievement. He hoped that Jichen would continue to pursue his interest in astrophysics while studying at UWC.
This science fair is organized by China Association for Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering, National Natural Science Foundation of China and the H. S. Chau Foundation. It is the highest honor for Chinese high school students performing scientific research. Nearly 2000 projects were submitted in the first round this year, 15 First Prize, 35 Second Prize, and 45 Third Prize were awarded.
