Polycarp Wekesa
A passionate educator and teacher-leader, Polycarp has a career in the education management industry that spans over two decades, working in Kenya, Eswatini and the mainland of China. He has professional experience in teaching, development of curriculum, student life and academic leadership, having worked in public, private and international schools.
He has participated in International Baccalaureate Educator Network roles in different capacities: as an IB DP Geography workshop leader for the IB Africa, Europe and the Middle East region, an online workshop facilitator and a DP Geography Internal Assessment moderator. He was a member of the International Baccalaureate's (2012-2016) External Curriculum Development Committee for the current IB DP Geography curriculum for examinations in 2019-2025.
Prior to joining UWC Changshu, China, Polycarp was the Head of Residential Life and teacher of Geography at Waterford Kamhlaba UWCSA. His experience in global schools defying boundaries of race, creed and ethnic identity have instilled in him a deep sense of appreciation for the importance of teaching and learning in a community that is driven by purpose, embodies its mission, and celebrates deliberate diversity. He believes that a curriculum with an impactful mission, makes education a force for transformation.
