In the Early Action and Early Decision rounds the first graduating class of IBDP students at UWC Changshu China received a number of acceptances from outstanding U.S. universities and liberal arts colleges. These institutions include: Amherst College, Bowdoin College, Carleton College, Columbia University, Harvard University, and Middlebury College (some with full scholarships). We are pleased with and proud of the encouraging achievements of our founding year students.
Students who received early acceptances came from different countries, including Hungary and Morocco, and from different parts of China, including Beijing, Foshan, Suzhou, Wuxi, and Xuzhou. Before coming to UWC, some studied at local schools in China, while others studied in schools abroad. They all appreciated the diversity and the community spirit of UWC. They not only excelled in academic studies, but engaged in different social activities and made an impact at the school and in the local community.
One of the students receiving early acceptance said: “I would like to thank all the teachers at UWC, who gave me so much support, especially emotional support. Their doors are always open to me. I know when I am under pressure, they are always there for me. They show me a lot of love, just like my parents.” Another student said: “Every student at UWC is talented in his or her own way. At UWC, we are super supportive of one another. Therefore, in such a loving environment, I got to explore different things, develop my interests, and constantly grow, thanks to the input of all our community members.”
Our Principal, Robert Clarence, said: “I would like to congratulate our students on what they have achieved! I believe they will cherish the unique, life-changing experience that UWC has afforded them. In two years we have traversed many challenges as a new school. We have been fortunate to have had teachers and administrators who worked very hard on our behalf. And now we are especially proud of our students and the results they have achieved. We hope in the coming months, more students will be admitted to their dream schools. Personally, I hope that our students will continue to pursue the mission and values of the UWC Movement and make a positive impact wherever they go.”
