UWC Student Joint Selection Committee of China (“China Selection Committee”, or “JSC”) is responsible for the selection of students from China to all the UWC schools in the world, including UWC Changshu China. The JSC selects students based on global UWC standards and practices.

Students who satisfy the following criteria are eligible to apply through the JSC:

1. The UWC Candidate

UWC seeks to enroll students who will be able to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by UWC.

The following characteristics are typical in the students we enroll:

A passion for service

Commitment to academic achievement

Curiosity to explore other cultures and languages

Determination to embrace change

Potential for leadership

2. Citizenship and residency

All Chinese citizens (defined as citizens of mainland China) residing anywhere in the world.

Non-Chinese citizens residing in mainland China.

Non-Chinese citizens residing outside mainland China who are ineligible to apply to UWC through their country’s national committee. 

3. Years of formal education received

Students applying to the Foundation Programme (Grade 10) should be in at least Grade 9 or 10 at the time of application.

Students applying to the IB Diploma Programme (Grade 11) should be in at least Grade 10 or 11 at the time of application. 

4. Age

Students applying to the Foundation Programme (Grade 10) should be between the ages of 15 and 18 in August 2020.

Students applying to the IB Diploma Programme (Grade 11) should be between the ages of 16 and 18 in August 2020.
